Deborah Merrill

President, Retail, bp

Deb is an energy executive with 22 years of experience in North American and global retail energy markets. She has served as a board director for Just Energy, a publicly traded retail energy provider (NYSE:JE TSX:JE.TO) with revenues of $3.8B. She also served on the board of ecobee, a private company focused on creating smarter wi-fi thermostats that provide energy efficiency and savings.

Prior to this, Deb led Just Energy for four years as the President and co-CEO. where she led the company through a transformation to a consumer-focused retail energy provider delivering real value to consumers. During her time as co-CEO, she grew EBITDA by 24%, reduced debt from 6.8x net debt to EBITDA down to 2.5x, expanded sales channels and new customer additions by 26% and expanded the company outside North America. She is a recognized leader in the industry and pioneered the strategic vision of the company that positioned Just Energy for long term sustainable growth.

In 2002, Deb co-founded Just Energy LP, a Houston-based retail energy start-up. In 2007, the $34 million business caught the attention of the Energy Savings Group, which purchased Just Energy, retaining its sound operational structure, and the proven leadership team behind it. Deb holds a BA from the College of Wooster, as well as an MBA from Texas A&M University. She is active with various organizations including serving on the advisory board for the Women’s Energy Network.

Trude Sundset

Strategic Advisor and Business Development, Aker Horizons

Trude Sundset is CEO of Gassnova. She has 30 years business experience, with key areas within energy, environment and climate issues. She has had several years of management experience including corporate and line management, R&D management, as well as business development and oil/gas field development.

Sundset has experience from Boards of organisations including commercial businesses, experience from international collaboration and has built a broad network in various international organisations. Among these, Sundset was Member of Advisory Council in ZEP (European Union’s platform for Zero Emissions Fossil Fuel Power Plants united to support CO2 Capture and Storage. She also served as Chairman of Technical Group of the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (2005-2008) on behalf of Norway. In addition, she was Member of Executive Committee of IEA GHG R&D (International Energy Agency Greenhouse Gas Research& Development).

For more than 15 years she was Chairman of the Board of the foundation FIRST Scandinavia. Being part of building this organisation from the start, now a sound organisation as the key player in Norway on developing and running science programs for young people. Sundset holds a Master of Technology, Physical Chemistry, from Norwegian University of Science and Technology, NTNU, Trondheim.

Trine Dalsgaard

Trine Dalsgaard

Vice President, Business Development, Surveillance & Mission, TERMA Group

Trine Dalsgaard is Vice President of Business Development for Terma A/S and is responsible for growth and market development within Surveillance and Mission Systems. Terma A/S delivers radars and surveillance systems for critical offshore energy infrastructure, naval and aerial defense, and electronics for space solutions.

Trine has had varied international sales leadership roles in renewable energy for the past 15 years, building on experience in energy, aviation, and telecoms. Prior to joining Terma, she worked as Chief Sales Officer at a leading global hardware supplier for wind, solar and industrial OEMs (Hawe Energy Solution), ran her own successful advisory business, was Chief Business Development Officer of a global biogas company (Nature Energy), and Sales Director responsible for Scandinavian markets for Vestas Wind Systems from 2008 to 2018.

Throughout her career she has been active in different industry associations like Green Power Denmark and Norwea, and volunteer as a mentor for foreign students in GCCP, Greater Copenhagen Career Program. She lives in Copenhagen, Denmark with her husband and two sons, and holds a master’s degree in Export Engineering and an EBA, Engineering Business Administration.  In her spare time, she imports and sells champagne.

Olivia Breese

CEO and Senior Vice President, Power-2-X, Orsted

Olivia Breese is Ørsted’s Senior Vice President for its renewable hydrogen and Power2X business and a member of the Commercial Executive Committee. Olivia has been at Ørsted for a decade, with previous global leadership roles in market development, M&A and joint ventures, and structured finance. Previously, Olivia was at the law firm Linklaters, working on the project financing of energy assets with time in their London, Moscow and Milan offices. Olivia holds an MA (Oxon) in English Literature, an LLM and an MsC in Sustainable Development.

Kerryn Graham

Head of Business, EnergyAustralia

Kerryn is an experienced senior leader with a demonstrated history of working in the utilities industry. Skilled in both retail and wholesale energy, in: business transformation, business planning, risk management, scenario planning, budgeting, reporting and business process improvement.

Kerryn joined EnergyAustralia in 2006 and has held a number of senior leadership roles within Finance over this time. Prior to EnergyAustralia, she spent 5 years at Enertrade, an energy company in Queensland, where she worked in a range of market analysis and risk roles. At EnergyAustralia, Kerryn leads the women’s network, which was established in 2014, and aims to support women at all levels across the organisation and contribute to building an inclusive culture where we can bring our whole selves to work and have a sense of belonging. The network has grown substantially under Kerryn’s leadership, and currently has around 150 active members.

Joanne Spillane

Global Head of Private Capital Markets, Macquarie Group

Joanne Spillane is an Executive Director and Global Head of Private Capital Markets at Macquarie Capital. Jo is responsible for Macquarie Capital’s relationships with significant investors in real assets, including superannuation funds, foreign pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and specialist fund managers. In her role she also drives cross divisional opportunities with these clients for the wider Macquarie Group.

Jo has been at Macquarie for 20 years, spending her first 12 years in Equity Capital Markets where she was responsible for the origination and execution of equity capital raisings for listed entities and Initial Public Offerings. Following this, she joined Macquarie Group’s Investor Relations team, liaising with the Groups own shareholders and banking analysts before re-joining Macquarie Capital in her current role.

Jo has a BA Communications from UTS and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management at University of NSW.
